Abstract. The multilayered sites of Korshevo I and Korshevo II, discovered and studied by L. M. Tarasov in the 1970s and 1980s, were considered unique for the region in that they contain both the Middle and Upper Paleolithic cultural layers within the same stratigraphic sequence. However, a reanalysis of the collections of Paleolithic cultural layers II and III of these sites, based first of all on the technological analysis of debitage products and focused on knapping technology, leads to the conclusion that what formerly was thought to be Middle Paleolithic inventories should rather be identified as Upper Paleolithic (Gravettian) industries aimed at the production of large and middle-sized blades.
